Standing Firm, Stretching Forward 2013

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:10-14, ESV).

“Standing Firm, Stretching Forward” describes a captain, courageously standing on the ship, firmly grasping the wheel, safely enabling the ship to move forward in the squall. This image graphically portrays the burden behind the theme for the 2013 Trinity Ministers’ Conference. What is that burden? We desire that God would use the messages and fellowship of this year’s conference in each of our lives to strengthen our resolve to stand firm in the faith, while stretching forward to advance in grace and to labor for the advancement of Christ’s kingdom. Our Confession clearly states, “Scripture is sufficient for all things pertaining to life and to godliness.” I issue that call to you, the people of God and my brethren in the ministry, to stand firm in your conviction concerning the nature of Scriptures. Stand firm in your commitment to obey the Scriptures in every facet of your life and ministry.
